What Is the PVSA?

The Presidential Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is the premier volunteer awards program in the United States, encouraging citizens to live a life of service through presidential gratitude. Established in 2003, the award recognizes individuals, families, and groups who have achieved a required number of hours of service over a 12-month period.

As a certifying organization, ANTP can verify volunteer hours and submit applications for the PVSA on behalf of its students and volunteers. Recipients receive an official certificate, a congratulatory letter from the President of the United States, and a pin corresponding to their award level.

How to Earn the PVSA Through ANTP

Volunteer activities that count toward PVSA hours at ANTP include:

• Assisting teachers during Tamil classes
• Helping organize and run cultural events (Pongal, Deepavali, Annual Day)
• Managing the Tamil library and book lending program
• Supporting technology, website, and social media efforts
• Mentoring younger students in Tamil reading and writing
• Participating in community outreach and fundraising activities

Logging Your Hours

All volunteer hours must be logged accurately and verified by an ANTP committee member. To log your hours:

1. Record your volunteer activity, date, and hours after each session.
2. Submit your hours log to your branch coordinator monthly.
3. Hours are tallied on a rolling 12-month basis (January through December).
4. At the end of the service period, ANTP submits qualifying applications to the PVSA program.
