For Parents

Parent Guidelines

Everything parents need to know about supporting their child's Tamil education at ANTP. These guidelines help ensure a smooth experience for families, teachers, and students alike.

Drop-off and Pick-up

Smooth drop-off and pick-up routines help classes start and end on time, keeping students safe and minimizing disruption.

  • Students should be dropped off no earlier than 10 minutes before class begins. Teachers and volunteers are not available to supervise students who arrive significantly early.
  • Pick-up must be within 10 minutes of class ending. Students will wait in a supervised area until their authorized pick-up person arrives.
  • Use the designated drop-off and pick-up zones at each facility. Do not park in fire lanes or block facility entrances.
  • If you are running late for pick-up, please notify your branch coordinator by phone or WhatsApp so arrangements can be made.
  • Students will only be released to adults listed on the authorized pick-up list in their registration form. Photo ID may be requested.

Attendance Requirements

Consistent attendance is crucial for Tamil language learning, as each lesson builds upon the previous one.

  • A minimum 80% attendance rate is required to receive a year-end certificate and be eligible for grade promotion.
  • Notify your teacher before class if your child will be absent. Use WhatsApp or the school portal to communicate absences.
  • For extended absences (more than two consecutive weeks), contact your branch coordinator to discuss make-up options.
  • Attendance records are available in the student portal for parents to review at any time.

Homework Policy

Weekly homework helps reinforce what students learn in class. Assignments are designed to take approximately 20-30 minutes.

  • Homework is assigned every week and is due at the beginning of the next class session.
  • Review your child's homework and provide encouragement, but allow them to complete the work independently.
  • If your child is consistently struggling with assignments, reach out to the teacher to discuss strategies for support.
  • Homework completion is part of the overall student evaluation. Consistent effort matters more than perfection.

Communication

Staying informed and connected helps you support your child's progress and stay engaged with the school community.

  • Check your email regularly for school announcements, event updates, and policy changes.
  • Join your class WhatsApp group for real-time updates and homework reminders from teachers.
  • Log into the student portal to view grades, attendance, and progress reports.
  • Attend parent-teacher meetings held in the fall and spring semesters. Additional meetings can be requested through the portal.
  • For general inquiries, email arasi.nagara.tamil.palli@gmail.com. For payment-related questions, email antptreasurer@gmail.com.

Dress Code

There is no formal uniform requirement at ANTP. However, we ask families to observe the following guidelines.

  • Students should wear clean, comfortable clothing appropriate for a classroom setting.
  • Closed-toe shoes are recommended for safety, especially for younger students.
  • On cultural event days and Annual Day, traditional attire is encouraged but not mandatory.
  • Clothing with offensive language, graphics, or imagery is not permitted.

Volunteering

ANTP runs entirely on the dedication of parent volunteers. There are many ways to contribute.

  • Classroom assistance: help teachers with materials, supervision, and activities during class.
  • Event support: assist with organizing cultural events, competitions, and Annual Day.
  • Administrative help: contribute to registration, communications, or technology projects.
  • Each family is encouraged to volunteer a minimum of 4 hours per semester. Volunteer hours can be logged through the school portal.

Fees and Payments

Tuition fees support facility rental, teaching materials, and school operations. ANTP is a non-profit organization and all fees are used solely for the benefit of students.

  • Tuition is due at the beginning of each semester. Payment plans are available upon request.
  • Accepted payment methods include check, Zelle, and online payment through the school portal.
  • Financial assistance is available for families who need it. Contact the treasurer confidentially.
  • Refunds are available within the first two weeks of the semester. After that, fees are non-refundable.
